Friday, May 8, 2009 - About Tactical Team Sports
Dear friends,
Welcome to the NYP Tactical Team Sports club's blog. Currently, we are not an official CCA in NYP, but are gathering like minded individuals to get this club going. ;)

You might have seen the publicity poster. So what is Tactical Team Sports all about? Paintball, airsoft and lasertag? Well, our focus will be on laser tag as it is convenient and can be played anywhere. Paintball and airsoft will be played to complement our activities. Ultimately, we concentrate on specific learning objectives, such as leadership, teamwork, bravery, quick thinking, strategy planning, team communication and physical fitness. Think of it as live-action Counter-Strike.

The paintball, airsoft and laser tag games we will be organising are called scenario games. One example of scenario paintball is woodsball. As the name suggests, players play paintball in the woods: No middle boundary and lots of space for flanking maneuoveres! Along with airsoft and lasertag skirmish games, various historical events can be re-enacted, such as the D-Day invasion of Normandy, or even the US invasion of Iraq, hence the term scenario. Fantasy scenarios are possible too! Any fans of the Predator movies?

While we will be playing on a recreational basis, there will always be opportunities for competition. For example, the Singapore Paintball Novice Series and Malaysian Paintball Official Circuit are existing tournaments for the competitive version of paintball, called speedball.
How will we organise affordable yet regular games? Fret not! We have the full support of a local wargaming community, Wargh!, and they share in our passion to help Tactical Team Sports grow! In fact, they hosted a mass laser tag game in the NYP campus during the Open House 2009!

Who can join? Anyone! The requirements are simple:
1. Be a current student at NYP.
2. Maintain a passion for the sport.
3. Sportsmanship!

If you're up to the challenge, what are you waiting for? Sign up now! Drop us an email at nyp.tts@gmail.com if you would like to join or find out more. Tell us more about yourself and include details such as Name, course, school year, age and contact number :)
